Stories about The Photographs

Presented by Mike Grandmaison – April 7, 2021

Mike Grandmaison is no stranger to most of us. He has been presenting to this club as well as to other local clubs since he moved to Winnipeg in 1985. Last week, on April 1, marked his 25th anniversary as a full time, professional freelance photographer. That was after a 20-year career in the biology. For those who don’t know Mike, he is an acclaimed Canadian photographer and widely recognized as one of Canada’s fine nature photographers.  He is passionate about creating exquisite images that reflect the beauty of his beloved country Canada.  His award-winning images have been featured in some of the world’s finest publications, as well as in a wide array of products including cards, calendars, postage stamps and books. Mike is the author of 16 books to date.

In his semi-retirement, Mike is still busy working on various projects including a half dozen books. One of those, ‘Lake of the Woods’ is scheduled to be released in early summer. Other books now in production include ‘British Columbia’, ‘Birds of Canada’ and ‘The Esplanade Bridge’.

In this evening’s presentation, Mike will tell us about some of the ’Stories Behind The Photographs’ from his extensive travels throughout Canada.
