State of Emergence

State of Emergence

Presented by Colin Corneau – October 21, 2020

“State of Emergence” is a collection of photographs made near the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. They depict the communities observed while walking for several hours each day to keep physically and creatively active. ‘Emergence’ stops just short of the emergency the province declared in late March 2020, but also describes a new kind of life that we all made for ourselves by events beyond our making or control. As more and more rolls of film were shot during each day’s walk, I saw a story take shape from the images. These images are a document of a milestone time in our lives and I hope they can be a reminder of the start of the many changes we’ll all live with.

Colin Corneau is a Winnipeg based photographer who works in both commercial and documentary and street photography, in both digital and film. He previously worked as a photojournalist for 25 years at the Brandon Sun.
